I got through the last of the current crop of exams this afternoon, and had a nice, cheep-and-cheerful meal at a nearby Thai place, recommended (rightfully so) by my fellow students. What I saved on the student menu I lost on the Thai beer, but that was just because I wanted to pair the meal with the proper beverage. *silly grin*
Mr Sweetie made a lovely meal, some leftovers, some fresh - Indian cuisine is great for that kind of thing, cooking a great big pot, doling it out over several days, making other great big pots in succession, and the feast continues.
But about 3 hours after dinner, I got a sharp pain in my gut. Damn it, but I knew exactly what it was - one of the other symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome. Quite probably gas trapped where it wasn't supposed to be (however much our tissues are structurally capable of holding us moisture bags in the shape we have, it's not like our flesh is meant to contain gas at quite that pressure...), and then some spasming in response to the first thing. Not at all serious, but hurts like blazes, certainly making anything resembling work or even concentration for enjoyment (translation: reading quietly while waiting for the pain to subside) pretty much a fond impossibility.
I'd been so distracted, it was an hour before I remembered something in the household medicine supply that might help ease the pain. Before then I'd been applying a warm compress (yay! for re-usable chemical hand-warmers), followed by a hot bath. I felt almost normal, laying in the bath and sweating up a storm, but apparently I was led astray by the buoyancy of the deep bath. At least it wasn't as bad a stitch, just enough of a twinge to warn me that it wasn't completely resolved.
Now I'm just harrumphing at the "life's what happens while you're making plans" deal of it all.
At least I didn't have to actually do the exam while this happened...
